Winter Greenhouse Gardening in Canada ?
You betcha . At least that ’s what I ’m working towards . This is my second year with a greenhouse for the winter month , but as we move in September and the glasshouse was full of weeds , this is really my first twelvemonth aiming for more winter vegetables .
I ’m experimenting with timing , growing the right varieties , and using an unwarmed greenhouse .

So how cold does it get here for our unheated winter greenhouse ?
The coldest it get here is -20C/-4F however it often goes above 0C/32F during the winter creating chance to harvest winter veggies . You always want to ensure you harvest veggies after they ’ve thawed out otherwise they ’ll finish up mushy .
Our winter veggies go through freezing and thawing for a lot of the wintertime .

How to Time Your Winter Crops

Next winter I want to make some low tunnels inside the unwarmed greenhouse to have that double inhuman protective cover effect .

I know many masses also have plastic covers , which is what we need finally because it increase the heat and sunlight . When we moved onto this acreage the glasshouse was already here . This is a 20’x 20′ greenhouse . you’re able to see how wegrow intellectual nourishment year - round in a greenhouseand the state it was in when we moved with 10 foot weed !
The ceiling is passing solid though and the canvass book binding does help with the snow loads
