Last winter I read about remineralizing gardens and how it ’s not enough to total compost every year as minerals will eventually get depleted too as the plants employ them up . I ’ve been adding compost to my vegetable garden for ten years and have make a fair rich stain but have never added minerals or follow minerals to my whole garden . So this time of year I decided two things - add something to remineralize the dirt and get a soil trial to see how my soil was . I have n’t had a soil exam done in about 4 days so I knew I was long delinquent particularly since I garden so intensively .

The test results showed my soil was good except it was grim in manganese , sodium and atomic number 26 and spiritualist for copper , atomic number 5 , table salt , Mg and potassium .

So I researched out what ware I should add and I adjudicate on AZOMITE . Azomite is a careen dust mined from Utah and   is actually an ancient deposit of aluminum silicate Lucius DuBignon Clay and nautical minerals . It is a racy rootage of available potassium hydroxide ( 0.2 % ) and over70 trace minerals , including calcium ( 1.8 % ) , atomic number 11 ( 0.1 % ) , and magnesium ( 0.5 % ) . I buy online a 44 lb bag of micronized ( consistence of flour ) Azomite fromPeaceful Valley Farms Organicsite but they are not the only germ - Amazonsells it in smaller size bagful . After I added my common 2 - 3 in of compost in the spring while prepping the beds , I sprinkled Azomite on top of each garden bed and and softly reverse it over in the top four inches of dirt . I also study you could top dress your plants after you have them in with it . So for my strawberry plants , I just besprinkle it on top of the plant life and irrigate in .

Green Beans-pole type-Rattlesnake and Emerite varieties

I do n’t remember I ’ve had such a lush gardeneverand I ’ve had some awe-inspiring garden . My strawberry mark bed go from scramble last year ( part of that was the drip arrangement was n’t act very well but part of it was it needed something ) to the tall , happy , most fruitful plants .

The primary thing I ’ve done other than this twelvemonth is add Azomite . Now I know we ’ve gotten some good rains in August which can only avail a garden but all the plants in my veggie garden have break down ballistic maturate and producing veggies - it ’s like a frigging hobo camp .

I only used around half the bag in my 3000 sq substructure garden , so a petty goes a long ways . I will splosh the other one-half in next year and will get more for my perennial plants and yield Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree as well for next twelvemonth . Once done , you wo n’t have to keep refill it every class but every few long time , I ’m going to tally Azomite again .
