Today I dropped off my entrance for the giant vegetable family at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds which open up this weekend . I did n’t submit a giant autumn pumpkin this year as I only have 2 locomote . MAX and BABY HUEY ( who I ’ve been follow put on 9 pound a daytime now for a while ) . Lava locomote down to Albuquerque with me to help unload . Here are the campaigner I did submit :
This Lycopersicon esculentum is from a handsome Zac variety and is 19.25 inches in circumference and 2 lb , 14.4 oz in weight unit . It is still turn red but has complete it ’s ontogenesis . I did n’t see anything big down at the fair . We will see ..
This giant ‘ greenie ’ squash rackets is ‘ The Hulk ’ and estimated weight is 157 pound and has put on 7 lbs a Clarence Shepard Day Jr. in the last 5 days . Here it is in the back of the Prius . It barely accommodate in ! I still have 2 bigger greenies growing in the garden for the big weigh - off .
Here is the gargantuan Long Gourd , ‘ Digi ’ , which is measured by distance - it is 59.5 inch long - basically the distance of the back of the Prius with the bum down . It had stopped growing . I still have some long ones still on the vine that I ’m saving for the adult competition . In the foreground is the whitish pear gourd .
Here is the third big elephantine bone marrow ( zucchini ) , ‘ piddling son ’ , which is 47 inch longsighted and 27 column inch broad ! It ended up weighing 43.5 pound which was bigger than the one I withdraw last year to the bazaar . That one was 34 lbs . I have big one in the garden yet to come for the expectant contest .
And finally here is the hulk Pear Gourd , ‘ Gourdo ’ , which is 31 inches wide and 41 column inch in length . You ca n’t see it too well here but it is immense . It count 102 pound on the scale leaf at the funfair ! I debated whether to take it today or get out it for the big competition and decided to take it as it will be for exhibition only up at the big contest as they have no family for it . At least at the state fair I will get a medallion …
