I took the buyer of my solid food woods on a turn around some of my favorite wild place in the neighborhood this last week … and I just had to break off in tomy favorite little plot of ground of scrublandand take some photos .

Where some might see a sandy desolation of horse nettles , setose pear tree and poison oak tree … I see beautiful wildflower , acid - be intimate raging blueberries , delicate aboriginal pawpaws and a unparalleled habitat for gopher tortoise and other mintage uniquely suit to the nutrient - poor gumption and red-hot sun of scrubland .

I brought a fiddling confining - up electron lens for my novel Canon and decided to beguile some of the beauty I saw , both comestible and uneatable .

This earth star , for case :

That ’s a fungi , believe it or not . Does n’t it look like it was handcarved by a long - lost tribe of artisans ?

It was just under 2″ across from tip to tip . earthstar are very similar to puffballs in that they discharge their spore from a single orifice on the top of the fruiting body .

That cozy dwelling likely house a tinygall wasplarva , which lived and get as the oak tree grew around it . I ’m amazed at how the bantam lichens are uprise across its surface and how beautifully the human body flows . architect take note !

The aboriginal pawpaws that originally drew me to this lot have n’t arouse yet but I ’m sure they will soon . The prickly pear are sure bearing some lovely yield right now , tiny as they are :

I love experience the many habitat and species you could find even in just a short drive .

The Creator was endlessly creative when He formed this earth … I often finger like I ’m tiptoeing through a great creative person ’s studio .
