Kerstin’s garden in New York

We ’re expanding the GPOD family with today ’s photos . They ’re from Kerstin McCauley in Westchester County , New York . Kerstin says,“Miyako(Remember her garden ? Refresh your memoryHERE , HERE , andHERE ) , my girl in - practice of law , talk me into take film of my garden this leaping to beam to you . Most of them were taken in late May and a couple were taken in June .

“ I have many spring - blossom bushes such as rhododendron , azaleas , and Viburnums at that time . I seriously started to garden when I got a deer fence in 1997 . As you’re able to see , my garden is fairly waste . A few month before hurricane Sandy we had to take down a big maple , which was very golden since it might have fallen on our house otherwise . Since the tree come down we have had a deal more sun and thus many more flowers and a lot of color in the garden .

“ I put a planted whisky barrelful on top of the soapbox and planted around the stump . For some reason the plants flourish there . The astilbe , for instance , are much marvellous there than in other place in the thousand , and so are many other plants . I endeavor to keep off chemicals in the garden as much as possible , so most plants just get compost .

“ I am very lenient as far as plants multiplying and let them spring up moderately much where they like , within reason . It sometimes makes for interesting combination . I like the way that the Corydalis lutea is lining the front paseo . It originate from one flora many geezerhood ago . And with supporter from chipmunks and squirrels they are now all over the lieu . Then again at times I have to do some serious redaction , but often after the plants have flowered . ”

I ’ve visited this garden in individual ( years ago ) , and I love it ! I know that many of the plants in Miyako ’s garden are division from yours . She is favorable to have such a generous gardening female parent - in - law ! Thanks so much , Kerstin , for sending in photograph to share . Beautiful !
