Jay Sifford from Charlotte , North Carolina has been busy since establish his yatsuhashi boardwalk last summer !
" I ’ve been working on this novel section of my garden for the past year and a half . Last summer we built a yatsuhashi boardwalk that extends off the airplane of the existing granite boulders that takes visitors to a seating area drop a small creek . I ’ve planted over 600 one Imperial gallon fern of 25 unlike species in large interlock swaths . 8 deer live in this country of my garden , so everything has to be very cervid resistive . In summation to the ferns ( which they do n’t eat on ) , I ’ve plant rhododendron , pieris , diervilla , Japanese maple , giving leafage magnolia , two type of illicium , davidii viburnum , nanus hemlocks , acorus , 3 types of farfugium , and a few refinement - make out flowering perennials . Sweetgums , dozens of beechwood and oaks , arise up to 80 foot , make the ceiling to this garden outer space . I localise a trio of Edward Durell Stone spheres on the deck to mimic and pull from the natural boulders below , and built a crude low rail of very unbent crepe Vinca minor branch attached to rusted rebar . When I ride there I feel quite humble and originative , as opposed to other areas of my garden which are endue or bring back childhood memories . It ’s one of my favourite parts of this ever - spread out garden . "
