Lists for holiday gifts for gardeners are just about everywhere you look this month. But here’s a list with a twist: ideas for gifts from vegetable gardeners, like you.
Because all my family and friend know I ’m a gardener , I get a mountain of garden - related gear as gifts . horticulture books , garden shaft , garden heart gift certificates , garden gloves , and more .
So when it ’s time for me to do the gifting , it ’s only right that some of those presents come from my garden . I ’ve given herbaceous plant - flavored vinegars , special heirloom seeds I ’ve spare , lavender sachets , dry herbs , fruit and berry infused liquor , and many other tasty goody .
Friends have told me these gifts from the garden are some of their favourite presents , and they look onward to getting something they can enjoy throughout the year .

This fourth dimension around I was revolutionise by some of the formula in the new bookHow to Start a Food Swapand made some batches of herbed saltiness . These herbed salts combine dry out herbs and spices with common salt to make extra - peculiar seasonings for extra - special recipe .
The basic combination is to combine 1 teaspoon of your favored flavoring to ¼ cup Kosher table salt . For one batch , I used dried thyme that I grow in the patio garden . It was easy to blend the herbs with the saltiness in a food processor until it get to a unspoiled , useable consistency . The herbed salts can also be blended in a spicery grinder or by mitt with a trench mortar and pestle
Herbed Strategic Arms Limitation Talks can be made using any stout dry out herbaceous plant that will guard up to the processing , like thyme , rosemary and sage .

Spicy salts make a outstanding gift for someone who like to add a little heat energy to their cooking . I used some of my red chiles and Capsicum annuum grossum black pepper to create a nice blending of hot and sourish salt to expend in spicy cup of tea or to salt the rims of blinking Mary glasses on Christmas good morning .
I ground some jalapeno capsicum into pepper flakes and also into a fine gunpowder . Then I package the herbed salts , black pepper flake and cayenne pulverization into baskets and added a few recipe to make the present complete .
If it ’s too late this time of year to put together gifts like these from your garden , plan now to plant some garden - overbold idea for present next vacation season .
