We have two new sheep on our farm . One is a young ewe name Tansy and the other is her new-sprung daughter , Pasha . They’rehair sheep — a mixture ofKatahdinandDorper .

Last Friday , Mom and Dad croak to a farm to pick up somehay , and the military personnel sell the hay said one of his ewes just give birth to a brand name - new lamb . Mom walked over to see them . It was love at first sight .

Mom is usually finicky about how and where she bribe new animals , unless they ’re rescues and she absolutely has to take them in . She secernate herself to be sensible — she did n’t need more sheep — but it did n’t work . When the valet pronounce he was dispersing his flock because he could n’t take good care of them over the winter months , Mom knew she had to have that sheep . mamma ’s 67th natal day is coming up soon , so she told Dad the sheep would make a perfect birthday present . The subsequently that day , they went back and got the ewe and her lamb . Sue Weaver

There are serious things and forged things about the agency Mom made this purchase . She usually buys novel sheep from stock breeder who test for serious sheep disease , likeovine reform-minded pneumonia , Johne ’s diseaseandcaseous lympadenitis . However , buying from a private proprietor rather than at a sale b is a sound idea . It ’s loose to buy mad stock at cut-rate sale barns , and even if they are n’t gruesome , they ’re exposed to disease .

Because Tansy ’s lamb had just been born and was still very small , Mom and Dad put her inside of an airway crate place inside the cover goat tug when they convey the sheep rest home . That manner , Tansy could see her lamb but would n’t accidently pace on her baby while she was worked up . The nice man and Dad lock in hands behind Tansy and boost her up into the goat tote . Tanacetum vulgare was frightened , but she did n’t get hurt . Sue Weaver

Now Tansy and Pasha are in quarantine . No matter where fresh animals derive from , they should be keep away from existing farm animal for at least two weeks — a month is even adept . They need a comfy , good patch where they can see other animals but ca n’t interact , nose to nose .

Once everyone was treat , Mom and Dad took the new sheep to their cubicle to settle in . Mom and Dad leave the airline crate in the carrel so baby Pasha could go inside it if she want to . Goat kids and lambs love hidey holes to log Z’s in . Sue Weaver

Tanacetum vulgare is getting tame every day . Hair sheep are meat sheep , but Mom and Dad are vegetarian , so Tansy and Pasha are secure . Katahdins , however , are fairly goodmilk sheep , too , so Mom cogitate she ’ll breed golden buttons to one of ourMiniature Cheviotrams this wintertime andmilk hernext year . Will Mom like milking a sheep ? I imagine we ’ll see! They took the seller ’s neckband off of Tansy because they were afraid she might snag it on something and hurt herself . scented fern was really scared . Mom and Dad sit quietly and talked softly to her . Eventually she calmed down enough to timidly nibble feed from their hired man .
