DIY Raised Garden Bed With Privacy Wall

The plan is dim-witted : build a raised bed with 4×4 post and make the two back Emily Post improbable enough to support horizontal fencing add-in , basically work a privacy wall .

After building the original box , I liked the privateness aspect so much , I added “ annexe ” on either side for redundant privacy . I stagger their placement to keep it unchanging and add interestingness .

My actual raised bed has a step of 8×4 - feet . Many of you have asked for 6×3 specification so I have included cloth leaning for both sizes .

Mark the midsection of each unit and attach the 2x4s from the interior so the roll in the hay are not visible on the outer fencing table .

With the front and back sections assembled , it ’s time to assemble the loge by attaching the shorter horizontal control board on each side .

Add the side boards , starting from the bottom up , attaching them precisely between the front and back sections . They will check nicely behind the overhang of the long front and back board .

6Alternate Design

I can not tell you how fun it is when someone e-mail me to share photos of a project inspired by something I have shown on this site .

Helen Prier did a beautiful job on her edition of these lift beds with secrecy walls . It ’s a huge labor , but so worthwhile if you have a yard lacking character and secrecy .

And it is a mythical way to workaround any fence height restrictions simply by building a little high within your own property .

Raised beds with built-in privacy walls.

A few details to mark :

Here are a few photos Helen shared of the building process .

This first photo shows a coarse billet : a expert size garden space but no real definition to the space .

Garden before adding raised beds.

The taller raised beds were built first , concluded with the tall 4×4 support posts .

mark how the horizontal privacy boards are placed ? They alternate between the front and back side of the 4×4 posts . It ’s a good fashion to break up the effect so it looks more interesting than a hearty wall of wood the whole elbow room across .

you could see it was great line but wow , it looks dandy . The interchange wall arrangement , unlike smear colors , and diverge boxwood sizes really transmute it into something particular .

And what a fabulous situation to get really creative with graphics and plants .

Thank you , Helen for divvy up your wonderful labor . Well done !
