Last Saturday morning I had a twofold surprise in the military post . Not one , but two envelopes full of seeds plump onto my welcome mat . One was send from France byFred , post on Thursday – not high-risk , less than 48 hours – we have indulge in a little chilli seed swap . The other was from theHardy Plant Society germ dispersion scheme . This is the first batch of seeds I am anticipate from them , there should be another two batches , another 40 packets in aggregate . I list out my order back inDecember . I might have got comport aside .
I was pretty excited to receive all these semen , a big Cheshire cat grin was nonmigratory on my look for the respite of the day . There are some fantastic varieties here , I ’m really looking forward to rise them and regard what I cease up with – you ca n’t always prefigure when the parent plant life is a hybrid , they are unconvincing to number true from ejaculate . With hardy repeated semen , there ’s no full point hang about , so off I go with kid # 4 to the potting shed to seed away .
Over the course of the weekend I gratify in a binge of seed sowing , all of the cum I received from the HPS were sown , except for the tagetes , which will expect till March or April . I was aware of the research I did late on theproper treatmentfor each smorgasbord of seed , so they are now reclining in the surroundings best befit to them . Some are in the heated bench …
Some are on unheated staging in the greenhouse … .
And some are in the dusty - frame outside . The left hand group will stay outside until sprouting , the correct paw group will stay outside for a calendar month or two then go back in the greenhouse .
Some of Fred ’s seeds were also sown , two varieties of chilli to add to my growing extract . I have save some endearing looking Gallic bonce ( in both senses of the word ! ) and some cucumber seeds for later in the year .
Of naturally , seed the seeds is the well-off part – thing will get meddling when they all start germinating . I do sleep with this operation .
I ’ll be back soon with more seedy business .
Update 25/01/18 . The second batch has arrived ! I shall be sowing at the weekend …
