Add some additional jingle andsparkle to your backyard this yearwith a hand-crafted beaded nothingness chime ! I ’ll admit that I ’m a bit of acraftsupply hoarder and have gather a monolithic amount of beautiful drop over the eld but have just used them . This task is the complete excuse to get out my bead supply and make something I ’ll delight seeing out my windowpane every 24-hour interval .

Materials:

Make It!

Start by drilling holes in your while of driftwood ( or wooden joggle ) . I used a pen to nock where I want the kettle of fish to go . I chose to make 5 hole , but you could make as many as you care .

Pour your drop , charms and Alexander Bell into small bowls or teacups ( I sorted mine by coloration ) . Then edit a length of nylon bead thread to approx . 22 ” in duration . Tie a campana to one end , leave a few inches of excess thread at the close of the burl . Thread the needle onto the other close of the string .

set out string beads onto the nylon bowed stringed instrument . I chose to have each strand be a different gloss , to create a rainbow upshot . I also mixed in wooden beads and metal charms .

Once you ’ve finished beading your strand , unthread the phonograph needle . Then , produce sure not to lose your beads , meander the acerate leaf onto the few inches of string you impart at the bottom ( from knotting the bell ) . Then insert the needle back up through two or three bead to conceal the end of the thread . Snip off any redundant string and cautiously set the beaded strand aside and start the next one .

Continue to make bead strands until you have one for each hole that you made in the driftwood .

Once you ’re done you could set the finished strands out and make any adjustments you might need . I want my beaded winding chime to advert at different lengths so I removed a few beads from some strands and added bead to others until I reach a smell I liked .

Next , carefully peck up the first fibril . weave the needle and string it through the first hole in the driftwood . Thread a bead onto the top of the wood and carefully tie a secure nautical mile around the bead . Thread the excess string back down through the driftwood and through a few beads , then snip any excessiveness .

Repeat this process until all beaded strands are secured onto the wood .

Finally , make a hanger by wrapping twine around one terminal of the wood , securing with a knot . Then set aside some mire for the beaded wind gong to give ear from and wrap the string around the other end of the wood . unattackable with a mile ( I also cover the oddment of my string with some kraft paper gum to hold it down ) and you ’re done ! Hang outside a windowpane where you’re able to enjoy its beauty and hear it chime in the wind .
