Many age ago when I first started dabble in repeated gardening for myself , I was always on the observation post for freeperennialplants and people were always willing to give away their spear carrier once they knew I would take them . Talk about fleeceable ! ! ! There ’s a cause why people give plants out ! Please learn from my error ( yes that ’s plural , I was n’t a libertine learner ) and do n’t make space in your garden for these14 Plants Not to Grow In Your Garden , even if they are devoid and even if you have wads of distance to fill like I did .
How did these plant make my list?These are plants that I ’ve had experience with or my gardening friends have had experience with . Some are considered invading or fast-growing spreaders and some just take up a lot of space when there are more attractive perennial that could be living in your garden alternatively .
Just a small disclaimer here . We have sight and loads of reader from gardening zones 3 through 10 here at Gingham Gardens . Pretty cool , good ? What is considered invasive , aggressive or a vigorous spreader in one part of the country is not of necessity so in your gardening zone .

Randy and I are Master Naturalists . For us , anInvasive plant is a non - native flora that is unwanted , because it outcompetes native species an ecosystem . I have a plant life that I adore which isnative , but it ate 2/3 of my garden last year . It ingest some Penstemon , a couple of rosebushes , some dianthus , a hummingbird bush … you get the idea . I had grown it before in another part of the state and it was very civilised . Where we live on now has better soil and more water and gentleman’s gentleman , it “ went to township ! ” Butterflies love it ! It ’s easy to pull up . My Master Naturalist friends here turned it down when I offered some to them . They knew what I did n’t . To Master Naturalists , this plant life isAggressive .

When someone offered me some , I thought , what a pretty earth cover with its variegated leave-taking and tiny white flower . Ground cover indeed and it also shroud everything in its path .

More Perennials Not to Grow in Your Garden
These perennials may not be as “ ahem ” , enthusiastic growers as those previously mention , but they are definitely vigorous broadcaster . Some are regard invasive because of this tendency and because they are precede to North America . Most gardeners would be better off not nark with them .
